Travel by transit for free to the 98th Grey Cup

Edmonton, AB - The Canadian Football League is encouraging fans to help green the Grey Cup.

"We can all do our part to help reduce the Festival and Game's carbon footprint by using public transit when possible and taking some other small steps that can help make a difference," said CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon.

    Fans are encouraged to:
    - Take public transit on the Edmonton Transit System (ETS) to Commonwealth Stadium for the game; it's free with your game ticket.
    - Take ETS to Festival events.
    - Turn down your home thermostat before you travel to Edmonton, and turn down the heat in your hotel room before you head out to enjoy the Grey Cup festival.
    - Consider car pooling with other fans, if you're driving to Edmonton for the weekend or the big game.

Greenhouse gas emissions generated by team and staff travel, and hotel and stadium use, have been offset by Offsetters, a leading carbon management solutions provider based in Vancouver, in partnership with the CFL. In 2009, Offsetters was selected as the first ever Official Supplier of Carbon Offsetters in the history of the Olympic movement for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Fans can learn more about how they can reduce their emissions and calculate their own personal footprint by visiting www.offsetters.ca . And they can learn more about how Edmonton Transit helps us keep it green by visiting www.takeETS.com.

Since 2007, the CFL Green Drive program has worked to offset the greenhouse gas emissions linked to the Grey Cup game, Canada's largest single day sport event.
